Music you didn't even know you didn't know about
Von Clayton - Got Those Pains (1962 R&B)
The A-side of this obscure Rhythm & Blues 45 that may or may not originate from Texas. This one was written by Chuck Higgins, not sure if it's the same one of "Pachuko Hop" fame.

Von Clayton - Bandstand (1962 R&B)
Переглядів 64114 днів тому
Virtually unknown R&B / Northern Soul shaker from about 1962, this is the B-side. Possibly written by Jack Dunham, who would later write some garage rockers for Ray Ruff's various labels in the mid 60s and a bunch for Conway Twitty in the 70s. This is ripped from my own copy, so yeah, the sudden fade out is just how it is.
Avid Grey - "Action Jackson"
Переглядів 25Місяць тому
1998 track by Australian Shoegaze/Indie Rock band Avid Grey, only released on the pictured sampler from Treadmill Records, along with an early version of CLD, which would be re-recorded on their much heavier 2000 EP 'A History of Inglorious Failures'.
Gravel - Sand in My Eyes

Back with another track from Gravel's lost grunge masterpiece from Anacortes, 'No Stone Unturned' This is track 4.

Larkin sang lead with Lee on backup. The one and only Mary Lou Lord provides backing vocals on track 3. This CD was their only release, on Seattle's Y Records label in 1996. 1. What Is 0:00 2. Out of Reach ...

A footnote: Maybe, just maybe, The Staccatos went to the legendary Capitol Records building and experimented with the different recording echo chambers, which may be the reason why Les Emmerson's voice is so echoed.

At that time any idiot dared to imitate the Beatles. What a disgusting bunch of wankers! 🤮

THIS OBSCURE 45 ON SURE STAR RECORDS IS SUCH A GREAT RECORD BOTH SIDES ONE VOCAL ONE INSTRUMENTAL ITS CLEAR THE INSTRUMENTAL IS WELL THOUGHT OUT AND TRULY A MASTERPIECE FOR ONE WOULD CALL A GARAGE BAND . I HAVE HAD THIS 45 FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS AND I LOVE MOFRE AND MORE AS TIME GOES ON . GARAGE RECORDS UNFORTUNATELY ARE NOT BACKED WITH DISTRIBUTION AIRTIME ,PUBLICITY, PROMOTION SO THE RECORD USUALLY IS PRINTED IN SMALL RUNS MAYBE 500 AND STAYS LOCAL TO THE AREA FROM WHICH THEY WERE MADE . INTERESTING IS THAT A GREAT DEAL OF THESE BAND GARAGE RECORDS ORIGINATE FROM THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST MOSTLY FROM THE 60'S TILL THE EARLY 80'S I WAS LUCKY TO FIND THIS IN THE DOLLAR BIN AT A LOS ANGELES RECORD STORE. SOON ANOTHER DAY IS A LOVE SONG WHERE THE FEMALE MUST LEAVE THE MALE AND HE IS BROKEN HEARTED SHE IS MORE WORDLY THAN HE BUT SHE SAYS SHE WILL RETURN SOON ANOTHER DAY EVEN THOUGH SHE HAS TRAVELLED 1000 MILES AWAY SHE IS STRINGING HIM ALONG WITH PROMISES SHE LL BE COMIN HOME SOON ANOTHER DAY . MANY YOUTHFUL RELATIONSHIPS ARE EXACTLY LIKE THIS. THERE IS STRONG INSTRUMENTAL PARTS THROUGHOUT THE SONG WITH DRUMS PIAN ORGAN AND I AM SURE WAS WELL THOUGHT OUT FIRST . THE B SIDE IS A GREAT INSTRUMENTAL WITH ITS BOOGIE WOOGIE BEAT AND SYNCOPATED THE DRUMMER TAKES OVER AND THE RECORD INCREASES IS SOUND AND INTENSITY YET HOLDING ON TO A LOGIC AND MELOIC SOUND THE ORGAN COMES IN AS WELL AS ALL THE REST TO CREATE A BRILLIANT INSTRUMENTAL THAT IS GREAT TO LISTEN TO THIS RECORD MAKE THE LISTENER WANT TO HEAR IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN
My dad thought Kim was "better than Heart"
What about Sweet Chocoloate Brown?
Only got to see this band once but they were fucking great.
I couldn’t remember that name of the girl singer Yes the Gits
Like both Rush and Stone Temple Pilots.
Dale Gribble's theme?
Great post man..would like to have both the albums from gravel..lost in the grunge shuffle..a masterpiece
Gravel? I'd rather call them "Jimyrd Hendyrx".
I miss my dad, Pete Channing, he would have been so elated to see people’s reactions to this!
So damn happy to finally find this album in entirety. I had itt when I was in middle school and was in love with it. Somehow lost itoverhe years and have been looking consistently for it since then. Thank you so much for posting this album!! You made me very happy!
Outstanding garage blast from northwest legends !!
Thanks for posting this. FYI. We were a band from 1990 - 1996 and released 4 full length records. This was on the heels of our first album. It was a good time to be a band in Seattle.
I use to go to Subminute: Radio shows in the early 90s in Seattle. I was only like 13. I'm 40 now and this album has been in my rotation through the years. I wish I knew how these guys are doing. I remember hearing when they broke up and was super sad. These songs are timeless!

Hi there - could you upload "Sand in my eyes" from the record? .. .
Great tune, kicks ass, love it!
I wonder why when the Monkees didn't accept this song they didn't give it to somebody else
b andersson but not benny andersson from abba.
Praticamente e' come ascoltare i Beatles
Singer sounds like James Hetfield if James Hetfield was in a grunge band.
There best song ever!!!!! Seen them live. your the bst!!!
A rock band I played in during the 1972-74 era used to play this song in clubs. Two of us knew Les and he gave us permission to use our arrangement of it. Good times.
excelente LP!!!! mASCOTS
Classic raw grunge band..woth meaningful lyrics..crazy about both their albums
Mindblowing rawest form of seattle grunge..all others are imitators
Amazing grunge..could you pls upload the full young and restliess ..also willard and their album bonegrinder unreleased
The two tracks I've already uploaded are far and away the best on that album, but sure, I can post the rest this weekend.
@@TercelRepairManual thanks..man..really appreciate it
this is incredible! i knew the Kingsmen had covered another horribly obscure British song (Guess I Was Dreaming by the Fairytale), but i had no clue the flip was a Skip Bifferty song! i’ll have to hunt a copy of this 45 down
Tough one to locate, good hunting! Excellent double sider.
Jammin
Timeless music , Kim really has a set of pipes! 🧬
Outta my Ewok Village!!! HAHAHA ;)
Reminds me of Patti Smith a bit. Yeah the machine chewed her up too, but not as severe... :/ This song hangs in there with all the contemporaries of the time, but the PC machine is a fiend... :/
suenan bien crudo, me gusta, parecen los primeros alice in chains con otro cantante
His way with words is so beautiful
I love the full, warm tones of acoustic guitar, and the way they play them...beautiful!
Awesome to hear this... Renton rockers rule.
Real for You!!!!!
They won the battle of the bands in Spokane in I believe 1967. Jim Shack, Mike Brogan , Mike Craig, Bill Divine, Jim Gamache. Check out the manic guitar solo.
this is a re-recording of their own 'One night stand' instead of releasing the same song with another name ( it happened) . The Daze Of The Week version was tougher and better
From the crude recording you’d this maybe this recording predates the Daze of the Weeks version…. Which I’m pretty sure is the case
This was releasrd by nate starkman and sons...stick pre cursor
8 years after, no garage tune can touch this, greatest garage punker ever boys!
This was an almost-happened never-did artist who sadly took his own life after too many frustrations. It did "get long" at the end; in this unusual case, the edit is better.
That familiar sounding guitar intro was definitely the Nightcrawlers calling card !!!###
jingle jangle
Happy Stars, happy times.
Thanks Minx (great show) for bringing me here
